Heza Shakin Pistal (Rusty)

Heza Shakin Pistal, affectionately known as “Rusty,” is a 6-year-old chestnut gelding by Heza Shakin Gun (Heza Lil Playgun) and out of Flying Pistal (MRF King Melin). Standing at a perfectly sized 14.3 hands, Rusty is athletic, well-mannered, and ready for whatever direction you’d like to take him.

Rusty has been started in roping on both the head and heel sides in the arena. He’s also been used extensively for gathering and pushing cattle in the pasture, and we’ve roped and tagged calves off him as well. This gelding is solid, handy, and has a good work ethic.

On the trails, Rusty is exceptionally quiet and reliable. He rides double, packs saddle bags, and is completely traffic safe. He confidently crosses water, bridges, and any obstacle we’ve pointed him at. He’s unbothered by wildlife—deer, quail, and even turkeys flying up beside him don’t phase him. We’ve taken him to the National Championship Chuckwagon Races in Clinton, AR for the past three years, and he’s seen and done it all there with a calm, steady attitude.

At home, Rusty is exposed daily to poultry, kids, dogs, and side-by-sides, and takes it all in stride. He’s easy to catch, clip, bathe, and shoe. He’s freshly shod, recently dewormed, and had his teeth floated last fall—he’s 100% ready to go.
