THR Prairie Fire – “Gus”
2022 AQHA Sorrel Gelding | Well Started & Gentle | Ranch • Trails • Roping Prospect
Gus is a level-headed young gelding with a big heart and a good mind. This 3 year old, 14.2 hand gelding is bred the right way, raised right, and started with a solid foundation.
Sired by THR Halo On Fire (by Sannman, LTE $200k+, PE $3.7 million and a son of Metallic Cat) and out of a Spooks Bluestem daughter (LTE $75,387 and AQHA World Champion in Cutting), Gus carries the kind of cow horse and ranch genetics that make him a natural for just about any job under saddle. His pedigree is stacked with proven performers in cutting, cowhorse, roping, and ranch versatility.
Purchased straight from the breeder as a weanling, Gus has been thoughtfully brought along. He was started in June with a respected colt starter and currently has about 60 days on him. In that short time, he’s shown himself to be gentle, smart, willing and a real thinker. He’s never offered to buck, and he’s the kind that watches, thinks, and tries—just a willing partner with a ton of try.
He’s been riding out in the fields, moving cattle, crossing logs, water, and whatever else you point him at. He’s soft in the face, responsive to pressure, carries himself with confidence and moves off your legs like a good horse should. Whether he’s by himself or riding in a group, Gus handles it all with confidence and curiosity.
Gus is one of those geldings that’ll make someone real proud. He’s gentle, curious, athletic, and kind—with more whoa than go and enough grit to get a job done. Whether you’re looking to make a rope horse, a ranch mount, a trail partner or a handy all-arounder, Gus has the mind and the breeding to go far.
