SDP Raise Your Gun – Built to Work. Bred to Excel.
2023 AQHA Gray Mare | 14.1+hh | Athletic • Cowy • Versatile
“Raisin” is the kind of three year old that makes handy riders saddle up and smile.
She is a 2023 AQHA gray mare by SDP Boy Named Sue (Meradas Blue Sue, LTE $112k+) x FRC Raisin The Bar (Shooting From Memory) stands 14.1+ hands and has a solid start and a bright future. She is very cowy, very athletic, and already showing the kind of talent that translates to the ranch versatility arena, sorting pen, or even the breakaway box. With royal bloodlines that include Duals Blue Boon, Playgun, Meradas Blue Sue and Ill Be Smart, she is destined to shine.
She has a correct turnaround, is learning clean transitions, understands your legs, and is softening nicely in the bridle. She is a natural mover with the presence to stand out in Ranch Riding and the quickness to shine in sorting.
She has been started on the flag and has tracked cattle about a dozen times. The cow instinct is real. She wants to lock on and work.
On the trail obstacle side, she is brave and willing. Bridges, tarps, water, and tight spots do not intimidate her. She will go over or through whatever you point her at. She has been ridden outside around the ranch and recently hauled on her first big trail ride where she stepped off the trailer and handled it like she belonged there.
She straight ties, cross ties, clips, bathes, loads, and backs out of the trailer with no drama. No vices. She can live inside or outside, is not marish, and gets along well with others.
Raisin is best suited for a handy rider or someone that will keep her in a consistent program. She is young, can be a little spicy with time off, and is slightly noise sensitive. She is not an outlaw, just a talented young mare that needs direction and leadership. She’s shown growth in her maturity the past 6 months and I’m confident she’ll continue to do so with consistency. She has significant potential to be a top-notch mount in the show pen or out on the ranch.
She has been owned by an equine veterinarian for the past year and a half and has received excellent care. She is sound, has never been sick or coliced, and currently wears front shoes.
