Charlie is 6 year old, 12.1 hand gelding that is as versatile as they come. He has done everything from roping, sorting, team penning, ranch classes, western pleasure, and trail riding. He has won several first places in youth trail competitions. He got second in the adult class. We took him for an overnight trail competition and he stood tied perfect all night. He is my son’s favorite pony.
Charlie has taken care of all our kids (3 to 9 years old). He loves kids. My three year old can go catch him, get on him, and ride him bare back. Charlie knows when the little ones are on him, and when the big kids are on him. He isn’t scared of a job. He loves chasing cows and running on the trail. He will go up any thing you ask him. He goes through water perfect, over logs, bridges anything you want. He does the flag, ball, tarp, dogs running around him. If you’re looking for kid safe horse that you don’t have to worry about, Charlie is your boy.
Charlie took my three year old on her first independent trail ride and I couldn’t be more happy about how he took such good care of her. He didn’t speed up when he was further back than the other horses.
He would be awesome on barrels. He knows the pattern and if you want to go that way he has the speed to get up and go. He can do roping as well. He isn’t finished in the roping area quite yet, but wouldn’t take much, you just need to add some speed.
We have loved owning Charlie he has been a barn favorite. He is that perfect combination of quiet and fast. Hard to find both qualities in a pony. He is UTD on worming, farrier, shots and we have a basic pre purchase exam on him. He is great for bathing, loading, trimming, shaving, deworming, catching and tying. He does great in a stall or corral settings.
Charlie’s front right foot is turned out. We have never had any lameness issues with him. We have had only to do regular trimmings. We did do x-rays on him to make sure we didn’t need to put special shoes on him for maintenance. Our equine lameness vet that has done this for many years said regular trimmings to keep him balanced. We did find an old bone cyst on his leg. Have a picture in his notes. Dr. Crosby does not believe this will create any issues. X-Rays available to view.
