Say hello to Turtle! This 7-year-old, 16-hand chestnut half draft gelding is the kind of horse that makes you smile every single day. Turtle’s got that lovable goofball energy, with a calm, consistent personality you can count on—whether you ride him every day or once a month, he’s always the same sweet guy.
He’s friendly and approachable, the first one to greet you in the pasture! Super gentle, rides one-handed like a dream, and listens to voice and leg cues like a pro. Walk, trot, lope, or full-on canter—Turtle’s got smooth moves and a big ol’ stop when you need it. He’s easy, steady, and just plain fun for riders of all levels.
Trail time? Turtle time. This guy’s a total champ on the trail—water, bridges, logs, brush, bogs… he takes it all in stride, literally. He’s cool going out solo or tagging along with the crew. Wanna lead the pack? He’s down. Hang in the back? No problem. Turtle just goes with the flow.
He’s not just a trail buddy either—Turtle’s done his fair share of ranch work too. Sorting, gathering, loading, penning cattle—you name it, he’s probably done it. Sale barn chaos? Turtle’s out there like he’s on vacation.
More than just a pretty face… This guy’s got some serious skills. He side passes, pivots, lopes off from a standstill, and can switch from western to English with ease. Turtle’s soft in the mouth, light off the leg, and super responsive. Rest assured, he remembers everything you teach him. Smart cookie, this one.
Turtle’s even hit the foxhunting field and tackled cross country jumps like a total rockstar. He’s clever with his feet and always gives his rider his best shot—even when the takeoff spot isn’t perfectly aligned.
And yes, he’s a little bit of a show-off. Turtle can push a yoga ball, pull a sled, pack a flag, and patiently put up with overenthusiastic border collies. He’ll even side pass right up to a mounting block (or fence, or trailer fender) so you can hop on with ease.
Bottom line? Turtle’s the ultimate all-around good guy. Funny, friendly, full of character, and ready for whatever you’ve got planned—be it trails, ranch work, arena rides, or just hanging out and being your favorite big, goofy sidekick.
Turtle is up to date on dental, vaccinations, chiropractic care, hoof care, and worming. Turtle has recent x-rays and a general PPE completed and available for viewing. Turtle will also sell with our optional two-day clinic at our home facility in Baxter Springs, Kansas in addition to a comprehensive manual on Turtle’s cues, habits, and health information.
